It is summer in Struisbaai and it is also yellowtail fever time.

This delicious eating fish is also a superb adversary and a fish any angler love to catch. Fights are hard and furious with the fish using its strength and speed to try and rid himself of the hook.

The yellowtail schoals have arrived at Blougansie, the famous 12 Mile bank, Skipskop and the Alphards and anglers aboard Awesome Charters are having a whale of a time catcthing these fish on feathers, spoons, spinners and jigs.

With great weather predicted for most of the holidays and enough food on the banks we are looking forward to a super yellowtail season. With nice warm water moving onto the banks it should also not take too long before the first yellowfin tuna and skipjacks make an appearance.
